Halloween Party

Happy Candy Day!

On top of the epic surprise birthday party for Grandpa, we've also been planning a gigantic halloween party for months. It was my and Ashley's idea and luckily our honeys were up for it when we informed them.

Tim and I were Joan and Roger from Mad Men:

See the resemblence? Yeah, no one else did either. It maybe didn't help that my wig lasted only about 25 minutes before I ditched it. When all of the kids started to show up they were afraid of me and I just couldn't stand to not cuddle all of my tiny friends.

The cigarettes were fake, but terrifyingly realistic looking. None of the kids saw us with them. Can you tell neither of us has smoked a cigarette before?

"Hellooooooooo!" Ashley was Julia Child, drunk as a skunk on cooking sherry and paddling people with her wooden spoon.

I'm working on my disapproving smirk in this one:

Ashley's working on her french-butter-coma face:

The house was ready for the onslaught!

We hired two of Oly's favorite people in the entire world, sisters Carly and Lauren (Ashley and Tommy's neighbors who Oly talks about and dreams about every day) to baby-wrangle. And help us set up:

The Martins: One Fierce Family.

Nancy brought a pumpking spewing delicious chocolate mice:

Liam came in a homemade owl costume, dutifully hooting whenever anyone asked:

(There's Emma the tiny cooked lobster, Jack the squirrel on the truck and a couple of Raggedy Parents)

A certain little girl who refused to wear her costume all day, until candy was promised:
(And who also walked around the party asking people to get her a juice box- we know she got at least 5, which is about 5 times more than she's had in her life.)

Tim raked the front yard for jumping in- it has all been evenly spread out on the lawn again:

I'll leave you with this fantastic photo of little Monkey Ben:

There were about 70 people here and far too few pictures taken. Everyone had cameras, I'm hoping more will trickle in. I talked to our landlord today and he doesn't think there have ever been that many people in this house before!

Thank you so much for posting all the pictures. I get to enjoy them a lot more because I didn't have to do any of the work. It appears that everyone enjoyed. I think I saw that raccoon on my roof last year.
