Oly after hearing about a friend's cat who passed away.
Oly: "Does it hurt to die?"
Oh boy.
Mama: "Um, no one really knows."
Papa, quickly: "We are sad when people die, but everyone lives and everyone dies eventually. It is part of life."
Clearly we weren't prepared for this conversation.
Oly: "I hope that you guys don't die until after I have kids, because I'm going to have the cutest kids ever."
Mama: "Yes, we aren't going to die for a long time. And we are going to be the happiest grandparents!"
Papa, quickly, again: "But not for a long time."
Oly: "Right, because you weren't grown ups before I was born."
Ha! But, um, she is correct in that statement.
Papa: "Oly, Mama and Papa are very healthy. That's why I go for runs, to stay healthy so I can live for a long time."
Oly: "Right. Mama, you should go on bike rides more often. Do you even have a bike?"
Switching subjects completely.
Oly: "I've never been the happiest kid."
(We're both concerned) Mama: "What do you mean? Why aren't you happy?"
Oly: "Since Wynn was born, I've never been the happiest kid!"
(Both of us, even more concerned, but somewhat perplexed because she has a huge smile on her face): "You aren't happy that we had Wynn boy?!"
Oly: "Yes I am! I've never been the happiest kid in the whole world?"
Mama: "Do you mean that you've never been happier?"
Oly: "Yes! There isn't a happier kid in the whole world! I love that Wynn boy."
Some nights she tests our patience, but she is sweet as pie on other nights.
