Friends and Family, Hello!
If you're die-hard readers you may have noticed that this blog has gotten incredibly lame in the last....6 months or so. Sheesh, I didn't realize it's been that long. Tim and I have been talking since before Wynn's birth about how this blog has to change to better fit our family and our needs. At first it was just because we now had 2 monsters and there wasn't as much time for post planning, post photographing, post writing, and post posting. But since then it has morphed, for several different reasons.
Having Wynn has been the best. We love him so much, and as a second baby the love is exactly the same and at the same time completely different from our first baby (that'd be Oly.) We don't love each person differently, it's more like we've felt different forms of blissful love with each creature that has come into our home. The way we experience each milestone is different. I used to stare at -and videotape- Oly building a tower with blocks. For a very long time. Watch her stack blocks. That is what I would do. And now Wynnie is stacking blocks like a champ- and not just that but purposefully building roads through the living room with his blocks and taking his play tools and pretending to saw them apart so they'll make a better road and then driving his cars on them- but I do not stare at him or videotape him. What he is doing is no less precious and I appreciate it no less, but I know now that staring at him build with blocks will not make time go slower, nor will I soak it in more if I sit and stare. In fact, if I say, "Wow! Beely! What a great road!" And then go about my business, he'll be just as fulfilled (maybe more?) as Oly was. I hope that one day, when Wynn reads the blog and notices how many more posts there are of Baby Oly, he will understand that we were way more busy experiencing him than photographing him- and that he's content.
Another reason the blog is lame is because our MacBook broke and we got a new, fancy, touch screen, incredibly cheap computer that is freaking garbage. I hate it with a passion, it makes blogging much more difficult. We are working to replace it ASAP. We have already replaced our cell phones with iPhones and it has already helped getting posts up.
A very recent problem that we've had is the death of my mother. She passed in early November, as all of you know, and it's a wonderful thing that she is not feeling that horrible pain and exhaustion that she had been living with for so many years. But since her passing I have realized that when I wrote a post, I was envisioning her as the reader while I wrote. I know a lot of the people we love read this, and (we're grateful that anyone wants to know about our little family life!) but when I formatted the photos and text, I envisioned her reading it because I knew that she was a knowledgeable reader and was completely entranced by everything the kids did. That kind of worship will really motivate you to write something clear and/or witty. So since November, I have repeatedly thought to myself, "I should post all these pictures and write something! Oh, that reminds me that Mom is gone, she would have loved this so much.....nevermind I'll have another gin."
And so here we are. With many, many months of pictures to post, and disappointed readers all over the damn continent. So let me finish this post with a positive statement!
We promise to post many more pictures, but we're going to change the purpose a little. Before we tried to write a story with each picture, to explain everything so every reader understood where we were, what we were doing, and why it was special etc. Now our focus will be on documenting our kids for us. Not posting what was necessarily adorable or photographic- but what we want to make sure to remember forever. (Like that time when Wynn pooped on the rug and then Josie ate it!) Yeah, like that. So if anyone has any questions about anything they see or read, please post in the comments. Or just scroll and enjoy our blonde monsters.
Thanks everyone, we love you guys so much.
