Well, more like a medium race.
The Media 5 Miler was last weekend. It's a huge deal in our town, lots of locals run it, and tons of people have huge parties to celebrate. Out of the 4 house parties on our small block, there were probably 150 guests. Well this year, we wanted to party too. Considering it comes by our cross street (twice!) we invited people over to celebrate (others running.)
The kids wore their swimsuits and splashed each other:
Gretchen, Oly, Sydney and Liam:
After an AWESOME dinner of BBQ'd Timmy Chicken (you had to be there) plus potato salad, green beans, watermelon and fabulous drinks, it was time to watch the race!
Here's how Wynn watched it:

And wait, who's that guy whose face is being obscured by our friend Marc's high-fiver?
Oh it's Papa Guy!
Yes, Papa ran the race! Actually, he runs it several times a week because for the last few months he's been jogging the race route as his exercise, the exercise that has helped him get incredibly fit. So it wasn't much of a stretch, but competition is healthy. Don't try to look his name up on the final results- you won't find it. That's because he procrastinated months ago in registering, but the day before the race I managed to score the bib of a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend who injured herself. Papa ran as a 47 year old woman, and don't you know he managed to place *4th* in his age group! (45-49 year old women) He was 198th out of 1259 people overall. 38 minutes and 42 seconds, about 6 times faster than I could have done. I'd be working for a 20 minute mile, not a 7 min. 40 sec. pace.
