Chilling
"Mama? I have to poop so can I nurse?
Mama, I just pooped so I need to fill that empty space in my body right away with more milk.
Mama, my tummy hurts from over feeding so I need some milk to cheer me up. "

Oly and Wynn
Wynn got to meet his whirling dervish of a sister this morning and she didn't stop talking once. She was very sweet and loving towards him, and got to change a poopy diaper for her good behavior. She and Papa just went out to get some food and Wynn fell asleep immediately.

Chubba
Here's your last chance to guess the sex of this little Chub, does looking at it's face help you out at all?
36 weeks:
Yesterday, 38 weeks:
The ultrasounds say that it hasn't grown in the last two weeks (that is very good news) but it's faced is more smooooshed because it's lower. How cute is that baby. I mean seriously.
I have a friend named Jennifer who's a pediatric surgeon at the hospital where we're delivering, and last night my OB was there chatting with her. Jennifer mentioned she had a friend who was walking around 5 cm dilated with no baby yet and my Doctor said, "What?! I know her! She seriously hasn't had that baby yet! You mean I'm going to see her tomorrow morning at our scheduled appointment?! This is insane!" I agree. It feels pretty insane. Doc told me to go walk around the mall (because it's 8 degrees here) but I'm too tired to do that. I mean, look at that fat baby I'm carrying around! Can't wait to carry it in my arms!
Ready For Baby: Part 2
When you tell a little kid that they don't have school because it's a someone's birthday, there needs to be a celebration. So we baked and frosted a cake for MLK. Oly: "Tommy, we made a birthday cake for Doctor King, but he died so he can't have any but we're going to eat it because he was a very special man who helped a lot of people. Okay?"
She wants this baby to get here ASAP.
She does enjoy the preparations though: ice cream at Freddy's while I chug a Pineapple Milkshake (historically, they're a key component for birth in my family).

Ready For Baby
We're having a baby soon, have we mentioned that? The room is all ready:
And we are too. This kiddo is already quite a bit larger than Oly was when she was born (an ultrasound said it was 9 pounds at 36 weeks!), and I technically have a few weeks left. Well, my body is showing all of the signs that it is READY: I've been having pre-labor for a few days, I'm already dilated 5 cm (which is more than many women when they arrive at the hospital in labor!) and the baby is "engaged", meaning it's dropped to the point where it's all of the way down in my hips. The Doctor thinks it'll happen this weekend, but we know that no one can predict these things. If I don't deliver naturally, we have an induction date for the 31st because they're worried this kid is going to get way bigger and then we'll be in trouble. It'll actually be a January baby, not February like we thought. I have one day left to have a Capricorn, then it's on to Aquarius as Margie pointed out.
We'll keep you all updated!
I bought this in a 3/6 month size the other day:
Josie Update
We are still loving on our little puppy pretty hard. She's learning very quickly, but she is still a puppy: naughty. We find ourselves forgetting she's not Harper and yelling commands that he understood (Out! Get out from under the table!) and taking far too long to realize she has no idea what we're talking about. Tim takes her for long walks and as soon as she gets home she whines to go out because after that neighborhood tour and squirrel sniffing, she really needs to pee. We got an invisible fence and she's pretty good with it. She's never been shocked but we taught her to immediately turn around once she hears the warning beeps. This morning I saw her shaking uncontrollably on the porch and worried she was freezing or injured- nope, the neighbors cat was taunting her and she was out of her mind but didn't run through the flags. Good dog.
She sleeps in her crate at night, but is invited to nap in our bed frequently:
She's a total bath time stalker, loving to watch Oly and I while we soak.
When she watches Oly she always gets a face full of bubbles. I'm going to spare you any photos of her creeping on my baths.
This cushion on the couch is HERS and whenever I see her lounging on it I ask her, "Can I get you anything, Princess? Some peeled grapes perhaps?"
Her separation anxiety is getting better, but every once in awhile she surprises us and we're not sure why. This particular outing I left her with a frozen bone and NPR on. She still chewed the OTHER eye off of Oly's husky dog, ate one of my shoes, and tore about 20 rolls of toilet paper into tiny pieces. When she's in trouble we call her "Josephine!" Sorry Grandmom! You gave us the idea and it really works. I can just imagine your mother yelling it at you when you were naughty. It's a very satisfying name to scold.
When Amy wrote the other day here about advertisements for the SPCA the first thing that came to mind was the above picture, as in, "When you're dog does this, you can always just bring her to the SPCA!" Apparently not what she meant, but it still works.

Things Oly Has Said In The Last 20 Minutes
"But I'm not the kind of girl who pays attention!"
*playing legos*
"Hey Mom let's pretend I'm the evil king and you're the evil queen and we're going to eat this princess!"

*legos still*
"Sorry Princess, going to jail is just a part of life."

CUTE
Oh hey. Want to see the cutest picture ever? Well here it is:
Princess Ruthie, Princess Goggles and little Charlie.
Party + Poll Numbers
Sunday on an early winter afternoon, what were all of our friends doing? Drinking and watching football at the pub of course! In honor of our new little one. Ashley and Kevin threw us a Baby Shower/You Guys Have Been Together Forever/What A Cute Little Family party. It was so fun, although you definitely wouldn't know it from the three pictures I took.
Here's the upstairs at the Irish Pub before anyone arrived, Ashley's already sidled up to the bar.
Here is the *wonderful* cake we all devoured after munching on sliders, meatballs and chicken wings:
(If you live near a Wegmans, go get a sheet cake from there right this instant and then eat it in the car. It's the best.)
Colleen and Adam, our wonderful friends who are also pregnant came and everyone got to see the science experiment that is First Baby Belly vs. Second Baby Belly. I'm two months farther along than her also, but she just looks like she had some extra chicken wings.
Here I am with the wonderful Ashley who worked so hard to put it all together! (And who is watching Oly and Josie when we go into labor for crying out loud)
I don't have any friends who are "picture takers", which is good because I find those people totally annoying. Except when I realize that Tim and I have great friends who seem to love us very much but there's absolutely no photographic evidence! There isn't even a picture of Tim and I together at our own party! Oh well, Tim and I will never forget it.
Here's the current numbers for the Gender Poll. They were even until the party, when the scales were tipped towards Boy when people saw my belly. It's kind of pointy and high. Feel free to change your mind if you feel the aura shifting, you have until the last minute to guess. And it's not like you're winning any prize money either way!

Baby List
Oly has been watching me make many lists as we come closer to baby time and this afternoon she decided to start making her own. She asks me how to spell things, but she writes all by herself.
Want to know the craziest thing of all? We really DO need a baby bouncer, thermometer and a Honk for the baby. And so far, none of those things are on my lists.
Right now as I type she has started another list of things that SHE needs before the baby comes. So far it says, "Toy mermaids and toy trucks."
