The Past Week

Attention Everyone: A Huge Money Saving Opportunity!
Olympia is finally at the age that all she needs to stay alive is pages and pages of stickers. We will all save a fortune on Oly presents (and food and water and shelter, because stickers replace these too) for at least the next 3 years. These were from Auntie Bev and she has spent a total of 4 hours playing with them since we received her box last Friday.

We all had a nasty cold.

Two of the things that I love most about Olympia:
1. She asks for more broccoli.
2. She's always ready for Mardi Gras.

An odd combination of stray clothes found in the car when it freakishly dropped below 70 degrees.....

At the Tot Lot pretending to sleep. Finn is perplexed.

These are some cute pictures from the last few months that were taken with my cell phone.

Reading Hop On Pop ("Hoppa Pop! He! Me! Him! Jim!):

Cozy in Mama and Papa's bed:

Foldy:

Kisses for two Honks! (Honk was given to us as a gift from one of Tim's coworkers and we just found a store that carries them so we got a few extra in case he is ever lost. She had a 20 minute car ride where she got to hold several at once, but now the extras are hidden and she thinks there is only one):

Reading books with our friend Jon:

At Jon's house again, in the golden retriever Archimedes' cage:

Goff!

So Oly's crazy about watching golf, how would she do playing golf? We went to a pretty scruffy driving range where everyone there was a Papa with their kids and their tiny clubs.

She immediately dumped out the bucket of balls in the gravel so she could bring one ball at a time back to Papa Guy.

And she rested a lot in order to munch on a blueberry scone.

But she did hit a coupla balls and would say, "Yaaaaaaay!" while she watched it soar.

Here's an example:

"Watch!" is a new command for her, and she found a more efficient way to move the balls, I think it's going to catch on.

Can someone tell us how this happens?

We waited patiently for weeks to eat one of the Sugar Baby watermelons we grew. And look what we got! Seven pounds of sour peel! Auntie Margie, we think you can answer this.......

Oly's Cute

Cute new things that Oly does:

Refers to herself as O'bia

Understands plurality: She adds S's to things when there are more than one and we know she is not just copying things that she's heard because she says 'sheeps' and 'mooses'.

Insists that Tim change the channel to golf whenever he's watching any other sports and claps when the ball goes in the hole (he's created a monster.)

There's a song that she learned on Sesame Street called "Elmo's Song" where any persons name can be inserted for it to be 'their song'. She orders us to sing it all day long, putting in every noun she knows. Some of the best have been Racoon's Song, Honk's Song, Papa Guy's Song, and after our scruffy friend John had dinner with us we sang "John's Beard's Song" one hundred times.

When doing art with sidewalk chalk she asks me to write an o then squeels, "O!!!! Q." Then draws the tiny line to turn it into a q.

Dog Book

When Lucy visited early in the summer she brought a book that she made for Olympia constructed from pictures of dogs cut out from magazines. I was so nervous thatOly would destroy this work of art that I put it high up on the shelf for a few months. I brought it down last week and watch this movie to see if she likes it at all (no,no,no means 'I don't know')

Sleepy

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Last weekend we went to Ridley Creek to cool off.

Along the trail when she saw a trash can she screamed, "Garbage! The Grouch!". We passed at least 20 trash cans.

She's still pretty confused about the difference between a pool and a creek.

She wasn't crazy about being in the cold and fast moving water, so we threw rocks instead.

This video was taken after about 25 minutes of throwing, so she's getting lazy.
