Outside

Or, if you're Olympia, "Ow-sah".

Chris Pronger after the second period...

"Well, we had the forecheck going and were able to put pressure on their defence." (yes, with a a C instead of an S, he's Canadian)

"We can't let in soft goals like that, we can't relax."

"No one said this was going to be easy. It's the playoffs. They don't hand you the Cup, you have to earn it."

"Hockey cliche said between periods that means absolutely nothing."

(Now say it all with a fabulous Canadian accent - FYI, this is exactly what he looks like when he slicks his hair back in between periods)

Sick Babies

The day started out great: I found the summers first four-leaf clover in our jungle of a yard!

Then Tommy came over because his Mom needed to run some baby-free errands. Since both kids were suffering from the same cold, we figured they could have some snotty fun together. It didn't quite happen that way. There were tears from the very start so I invoked the power of Sesame Street and they zonked out:

Tommy fell asleep in my arms but Oly insisted on bugging him.

So we went into the living room to get some peace and quiet in the rocking chair.

And then can you guess who joined us?

Two poor, sick and miserable babies. They sure are cute though.

Surprise!

On the table eating fried bananas this morning at 7 am.

The Cuteness Since Monday

Water, diaper, cowboy boots; what else does a girl need?

Random Cuteness

Good dog.

Boring book?

We went to Michael's house to play and Olympia grabbed his guitar and jammed. She's not sure if she wants to play it like a slide guitar...

or an autoharp.

If you can bear with me for a moment of non-baby pictures, we're very excited to announce that the community garden will be MUCH improved this year. We had a neighbor till it (not during a rainstorm this time!) and we shoveled walk-ways to create raised beds. Also we are lucky enough to have about 3 years of leaves on the lawn at our house that we're raking in stages- so we have lots of mulch! Around the outside we've already planted swiss chard, beets, onions, shallots, carrots and lots and lots of peas! The leaves in the middle are keeping the soil ready for warmer crops that will be planted in a few weeks. Check back for more to come!

And here is another reason why Media, PA is a fantastic place to live:
they collect yard waste throughout the township and then compost it! And then they deliver it to the community garden and everyone fights to get it before it's gone! This pile was about 1/6th of the total delivery.

Gorgeous!

Paaaaaaaandemonium!

Today we had an massive housewarming party with all of our baby friends. There were 26 extra bodies in our home today, although it's true that some of those bodies were very small:

It was SO MUCH FUN!

We completely destroyed a table of snacks....

and Oly got ahold of the tub of animal crackers and tried to drink it like a cup.

She didn't take an afternoon nap because our visitors were too exciting, but then at 5 she fell asleep in my arms with the living room still full of people. I went upstairs and tossed her into her crib. When I went to wake her up an hour later she looked like this:

It's very tiring being such a wonderful hostess.

And then after dinner we went outside to play and she was still zonked out.

We can't wait to have everyone over again! It was a blast.

First Phrase!

"More boo!"

One of Olympia's favorite games is to go outside of the kitchen, close the doors, then slowly sneak back in and wait for one of us to jump out and yell, "BOO!". The more startled she is, the higher she jumps, the better. Before her feet even touch the ground again she's saying, "more! more!" Yesterday I was trying to talk of her out of it because I wanted to make lunch instead and she ordered, "more boo!". So I obliged. On a more serious note, this cannot be my baby who likes to be scared. Mine must have been switched at the hospital at birth. Ah well we're 'pot committed' at this point.

More cute words she has acquired: outside (ow-sigh), help, Elmo (eh-moh, [although she used to call him Melmo and that was cuter])

Can you believe this little round ball of dough is TALKING NOW????

Mary, Mary Quite Contrary

The other day in the car I asked Olympia to say "one, two" and she said, "own, doo". Adorable.
Here is what she did when the cameras were on and we tried to repeat it, among other things:

(The only letters she knows are P, K and O)

Messy

After eating half of my steak for dinner she dug into her first watermelon of the year- I know, I know it was horrible- it was an impulse buy. She liked it anyway:

She decided to share with Tommy,

Then immediately regretted that decision.

After dinner we let each of the kids have half of a cookie. She liked that too.

Dancing with Tommy

I have a Casio Keyboard that I got for christmas when I was in elementary school. It still works and yesterday I got it out for Oly to start banging away at. When Tommy came over for dinner they found the "Demo" button which plays "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley.

Now watch these toddlers get up to get down (apologies for the camera shaking, I was laughing too hard):

Silly Girl.

An older gentleman who works at the grocery store has been trying to give Oly a sucker for almost her entire life. Today I caved. She liked it.

Spring Activities

Went and got our first Kiddie Pool for the 90 degree spring weather we're having. I love how it looks like it's sitting in an inch of fresh snow. (They're Magnolia petals)

Oly hopped right in with her clothes on and that hose water is COLD.
