Top 3

I just got back from the grocery store with Olympia and it was a pretty good trip. I tallied up her score:
1 leg squeeze
1 holler across the produce section to friends, 'To come meet Olympia, my new best friend"
2 "adorable's"
1 "cute"
4 "so smiley's!"

Tim has hinted that I need to be a little more humble. He doesn't go to Genuardi's with her twice a week.

Today's trip has prompted me to finally post the list of my Top 3 favorite comments Oly has received in her 7 or so months on earth:

#3. "How come that baby doesn't have bite marks on her cheeks?!"
-a 70 year old man at the grocery store

#2. "Squeeeeal!"
-a woman who, after a several minute conversation about Oly's humongous thighs positively skipped back over to our grocery cart when I told her she could squeeze them.

#1. "She's absolutely beautiful! Have six more, you're batting .1000!"
-a man at the airport in Florida

Expanding the Repertoire

We got a new computer so posts will be more frequent! That's the plan anyway...

Here are just a few pictures highlighting the foods that Olympia is adding to her list. I will try to get some video at lunch today of her picking up the cheerio-sized rice puffs and stuffing her fat little face with them.

Ricecake
(Which was her Mama's first word so we knew she'd like them, it's in the genes.)

and Organic, Wheat-Free Frozen waffles!

They taste good AND they feel good on her little gums!

Although they cost a fortune for something that inevitably ends up on the floor, we'll keep buying them as long as she makes the face above.

More Oly

Baby blues

Cozy nap

Bi-coastal fan. (That's my Mariners jersey from when I was a baby)

At the park, doing some math.

Grandmom, she finally plays with these toys in the bath, but that doesn't mean she doesn't like to play with them while she's dry and clothed as well. In this video she reminds us of a certain other creature who we loved dearly, who slept in bed with us and who was a fan of squeaky chew toys.

Papa Day

Papa is a very special guy. We celebrate him every day but it's nice to have a day where the nation celebrates him too. We started off his weekend by grilling fish on Friday night. Oly helped.

Well, she cheered him on, anyway.

Here is her first Fathers Day present to him (and to the Grandpa's I'm sure) eating her first Copper River Salmon.

She likes it! Finger lickin' good.

On both Saturday and Sunday she took naps in Papa's lap.

They were cozy.

Then Sunday morning, after presents,

We went to Iron Hill and Oly sat in a booster seat like the big girl that she is.

Then we went to our friends Jon and Leigh's house to meet Archimedes:

Seriously. He really is that cute. I tried to take a picture of them together, but as soon as I got back far enough to get a good shot he pawed her in the face and knocked her over. If the picture had turned out it would have been worth it, but unfortunately it was a big blonde blur.

Here is a video showing what we apparently need to do to coax her into laying around on her belly and eventually crawling- get a puppy. You can see how dissatisfied she is with not being able to get over to Archimedes and pull his ears.

And here's a long video of her not cooperating, but shows her great new sound, "baah, baah, baah, baah."

What Olympia has been up to....

...Fully pushing herself up while on her belly (she only does this at our weekly ' Mommy and Baby Hangout Class'. That's where the interesting stuff is).....

....Trying not to fall asleep in the car (this picture is taken while parked and through the mirror that lets me look at her in her backwards car seat).....

.....Chillin' at the garden, half-naked....

.....Sitting in her new big girl booster seat (she's officially too fat for the Bumbo, and has been for a while).....

....And admiring Scotty's glorious playoff beard when he came over from Pittsburgh last weekend to watch Hockey with Papa. I think you all know what this means.....

Papa needs a beard too! She was a very big fan of Scottie and refused to go to sleep while he was in the room. She craned her neck and contorted her body to make sure she always had Scottie's attention. He'll have to visit again soon.

She may have her mother's intelligence and good looks...

...but she has her papa's handles. She's clearly a natural with the rock in her hands, and we've all seen that she has crazy hops.

But who knew she was a ball hog? Pass me the rock papa!

Lulling me to sleep before a killer crossover.

Look at the fundamentals. A picture perfect chest pass.

The Baby That Ate Drexel Hill

It's been a long time since we posted. Hallie's computer is in the shop and in the evenings when Tim brings his laptop home we're both too tired to write many sentences. But there are a few things to update you on:
Oly is eating lots of solid foods and so far one of her most favorite is spinach. Her Great-Grandpa Mac would be extremely proud. Certainly her Grandpa Mac and her Great-Aunt Margie are.

Organic Mango? Disgusting. But blend a bag of steamed conventional spinach and she's good to go. Who knew.

We bought her a few new toys for her to play with, one of which is shown below. Her dexterity has improved dramatically since and she now turns the light switch off when we're finished in each room.

We also went to her 6 month check-up at Drexel Hill Pediatrics and Dr. Browngoehl came up with new nickname in the post title above.
Her weight? 22 lbs and 11 oz. About 2.5 pounds heavier than the 97th percentile. Dr. Browngoehl showed me her dot on the chart, "She's a full inch above the top line! Wow!".
Her height? 28.25 inches. A little less than an inch taller (longer?) than the 97th percentile.
Head circumference? (I don't know if you guys have noticed, but the kid has a gigantic noggin.) 46.75 inches. About two inches more than the 95th percentile.

We certainly have a remarkable child.
