Bad Parents File, Case #001

We thought she was still fast asleep in the bouncy seat. We look over, and she has craned her neck backward to find the television and is engrossed in the NBA Dunk Contest.

Oly No! If you are going to be obsessed with television at least watch what Mama likes! Antiques Roadshow! Mythbusters! Martha Stewart!!!!!

And now a message from Oly...

Olympia has some new noises to share; adorable, happy, high pitched squeals. There's only one problem: she won't do them for the camera yet. You may ask, "She's only a little baby! How does she know what the camera is or that she should act differently when it's on?" Well my friends, I give you this video. Notice she is not looking at me, but through the lens at YOU, her faithful readers.

Then she wanted to watch to make sure her lighting was right and that I framed her face correctly.

First Play Date

Olympia had her first play date this morning with Bryn and Luke, the children I regularly babysat for when we lived in Haverford. For at least the first 30 minutes she just stared wide eyed in amazement at them and didn't crack a smile or make a peep. She was busy learning- it was a lot to take in! Bryn knew just what to do when she got fussy and coaxed some happy time out of her. She was eager to hold her- but Luke thought she was too heavy. He's right.

Oly especially enjoyed watching them jump on the downstairs "trampoline" (a couch with the cushions taken off). These whirling dervishes tuckered her out completely. She slept for two hours after we left, woke up shortly to eat, naturally, and is off to sleep again. That was probably enough stimulation for one day! We had so much fun- those kids are a delight!

Olympia "The Belly" Reading!

She will eat for breakfast any chump who tries to challenge her.

She's putty in her Papa's hands though.

Recovery!

Olympia had her first sickness last week, a bout of RSV that made her very unhappy and uncomfortable but was, we were told, a relatively mild case. We will spare you all of the details and instead present this video of her very near recovery. She had lost her voice and apparently didn't notice when noise wasn't coming out. As soon as the little squeaks weren't so tremendously sad, they were awfully cute.

She's an Oppinionated Woman

She's not usually so adamant about whatever she's chattering about- this was an important conversation that apparently I wasn't taking seriously enough.

Archives

Papa is in London on a business trip but I didn't take any pictures today so here's a selection of classics from the recent past to keep him happy:

Rattle

Oly held and shook a rattle for the first time today! She looks thrilled doesn't she?

She's trying to suck on it. "No Oly, it's not food."

When Timmy got home she had to tell him all about it.
