In honor of Grandpa Mac's new bionic heart, here are some pictures comparing his baby and our baby.

'But he was still hungry...'

...reminds us of someone else we know.

In fact, she's so hungry she's decided to just cut out the middleman and eat her chubby little hands. Mmmmmmm, baby.

What is she dreaming about?

No wonder she's so huge- she even eats in her sleep!

We just got back from her two month check-up at the pediatricians. She weighs 15 pounds, 11 ounces. No seriously. And she hasn't grown an inch either. She is literally off the charts for her size:

but Dr. Soppas says she's as healthy as can be.

Are You Ready for Some Football...

...because we are! For better or worse, Oly gets to witness her first major Philadelphia sports experience today when the Eagles play the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game. Will she be in for a life of angst? Or has she arrived just in time for a new era in the City of Brotherly Love? Only time will tell, but as you can see, we are both excited and ready to go. And to answer your question, yes, I've had that jersey since I was 11, and no, I will not get a new one.

Check out those digs. I think she looks like a defensive end in this picture.

Or maybe a linebacker? She's definitely stout enough to stuff the run.

She disagrees, here she is showing off her perfect throwing motion. She's destined to be a QB!

E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES! (We can spell in Philly) GO BIRDS!

Don't Let the Baby Drive the Bus

We got up early on Saturday (early is a relative term) and went to Children's Bookworld in Ardmore to see Mo Willems. Hallie actually had to wake Oly up to feed her before we left, a rare occurrence. Here she is barely keeping her eyes open, wishing she had a few more hours sleep.

Here is Mo reading his new book, while simultaneously glaring at me for taking his picture (I didn't realize it until I saw the picture). I expected a children's book author to be jolly and friendly, but Mr. Willem was wound a little tight. Nevertheless, his new book is very good, and we got him to sign a copy for Oly, along with three other books.

Afterwards we walked across the street to Harper's old stomping grounds. It was chilly and the pond had frozen, just the way we like it. Hallie and I reminisced...

...Oly didn't see what the big deal was. She'll understand when she gets a puppy someday.

Afterwards we grabbed some lunch, and Oly resumed her favorite activity. Check out her stylish jean jacket!

Here is a picture just to prove that she is awake sometimes, although you can see she is prepping for another bout of snoozing.

Hallie plays with the new scanner

Lucy is an artiste. These pictures need absolutely no explanation, you know who the lovely portraits are of. You also know what this means.....a new installation of Lucy pictures in the guest room. These aren't even her best work, as Jay went through the stack of drawings she had made and took the best ones when they left.

At Last Part Deux

(See the link 'Amy, Jay, Lucy and Jasper' to your right for part one)

There are far fewer pictures taken during the visit than we wanted, partly I think because we could never find the camera due to constantly putting it high atop shelves so various kids wouldn't pick it up and do who knows what.

When called to do so, Jasper would peer at Oly and pet her arm, but generally he had better things to do.

Though, from across the living room once, he pointed at her and said "Baby!" loud and clear. While saying our goodbyes this morning he reached over, grabbed her chubby little fist and held it to his forehead with closed eyes and a concentrated face as though he was reading her future.

Olympia enjoyed lots of smiley time with her Aunt Amy,

...as well as a little sleepy time.

Lucy is a pro at helping fussy children out of their funk. She and Oly also have a VERY important thing in common- their love of ponies.

Several times during the visit she would announce that she was ready to hold Olympia, bring a pillow and blanket into the corner of the couch and hold both hands straight out- no matter how long it took to actually get the baby into her arms. Then the paparazzi would flash away until we saw Lucy folding under the weight of that giant child. She'll have bruises on her thighs tomorrow, no doubt.
